Our North West (Westside) Communities have been working to influence the development of authentic Indigenous Experiences for a number of years. Community and business leaders understand; if done right, the tourism sector has enormous economic potential for all of the communities across the region.

The Program

To assist our communities to better understand the potential of organized tourism development, there were platforms through symposia and other gatherings. For 2023 we will hold a gathering at Sandy Beach Lodge (on Lac La Plonge) on September 12, 13 & 14, 2023.

We want to showcase the unique skill and traditions of our people, the splendour of our land, and the diversity of our culture(s).

Furthermore, we want to present and discuss the creation of a regional tourism development strategy including a regional tourism governance and organizational model. The document will offer steps to assist in local Indigenous Experiences planning. The strategic focus is Métis.

In attendance will be prominent tourism leaders from the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada, Saskatchewan Tourism, and members from the Indigenous Destinations Saskatchewan Board of Directors.
